By | January 18, 2024

Audrey Chawner, a well-known reality TV star, has sadly passed away at the age of 73. Her daughter, Emma, took to social media to share the heartbreaking news with her followers. Audrey, who appeared on popular shows such as The Chawner’s Last Chance, Lorraine Kelly’s Big Fat Challenge, and The Jeremy Kyle show, passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Emma, who herself tried out for The X Factor in 2006 and 2007, shared a touching tribute to her mother on Instagram. Alongside a beautiful picture of Audrey, Emma wrote, “I just wanted to let you know that my mother passed away peacefully in her sleep at 4am this morning.” Emma also expressed her wish for her mother to “take” the family dog, Ruby, with her. She fondly remembered Audrey as a lovely lady who enjoyed watching TV shows, particularly Emmerdale and Eastenders, and had a great sense of humor.

The devastating news of Audrey’s passing comes at a difficult time for Emma, as she is also dealing with the recent loss of her beloved dog. Emma shared, “My dog also passed away at 11am on Tuesday, and Mum passed away on Monday. That night I said, ‘Mum, if you can hear me, take Ruby with you.'” Emma’s heartfelt message on social media was accompanied by a final photo of her and Audrey, capturing a precious moment between mother and daughter.

To help cover the funeral costs, Emma set up a GoFundMe page and paid tribute to her mother on it. She explained, “Funeral costs are really difficult for me right now, as I don’t earn much from my job, and the travel to and from the hospital has been challenging. I’ve been going back and forth for the past two weeks, and having my dad in the hospital right now is a nightmare.”

The Chawner family, hailing from Blackburn, Lancashire, had their fair share of media attention even before appearing on Nightmare Neighbor in 2016. They received over 500 complaints from residents in Greater Manchester, resulting in their eviction. The neighbors cited loud TVs, dogs barking all night, and fighting in the streets as reasons for their distress. One anonymous neighbor expressed relief, stating, “I’m glad they don’t live here anymore because they’ve made our lives so miserable.”

However, the Chawner family’s TV appearances didn’t begin with Nightmare Neighbor. Emma had previously participated in The X Factor, where she was unfortunately labeled a “loser” by Simon Cowell. In a subsequent season, Emma returned with her sister Sam, and they were mockingly referred to as “The Teletubbies.” The family also appeared on The Jeremy Kyle show in 2015, with Emma accusing Audrey of abandoning the family. Additionally, they took part in Lorraine Kelly’s Big Fat Challenge in 2010, showcasing their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Despite the controversies surrounding the family, Emma has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. She proudly shared her weight loss of almost 13 stone, attributing it to giving up cakes and chips and drinking more water. Emma’s dedication to her health and well-being is evident as she continues to make positive changes in her life.

The passing of Audrey Chawner is a loss felt by her family, friends, and fans. Her presence on reality TV shows made her a familiar face to many, and her daughter Emma’s heartfelt tribute serves as a testament to the love and bond they shared. As we mourn Audrey’s passing, we remember her fondly for her love of TV, animals, and laughter. May she rest in peace..
