Firefighters responded to the incident and found the woman with non-life-threatening injuries, while a second person was displaced as a result of the fire. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
In a separate incident, a tragic accident occurred in Burlington, where a man named Daniel Wagner was fatally struck by a train while walking along the tracks on York Road. Police investigations revealed that the train was traveling at a safe speed and the engineer had sounded the horn to warn Wagner, but unfortunately, he did not move out of the way in time. Wagner succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
In an update on a previous case, two individuals, Darian Valentine and Assign Hairston, have been arrested in Myrtle Beach in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a college student in Greensboro. The suspects are accused of causing the accident by running a red light while driving a stolen Jeep, resulting in the death of Xiomara Moore on April 13th. Valentine and Hairston are facing multiple charges and will be extradited to Greensboro to face justice.
In a new development, staff at Farmer Elementary School in Randolph County have been advised not to consume the water on campus after chemicals were discovered in the water supply. While no programs or classes are currently being held on site, a small number of staff members are still working, with bottled water made available to them. The school district is collaborating with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to address the issue promptly.
Meanwhile, in Dunn, a tragic incident unfolded as a 3-year-old boy named Marcos, known affectionately as “OJ” by his family, was found unresponsive at a home on Ponderosa Drive. The boy was rushed to the hospital and later to a trauma center, where he tragically passed away from his injuries. His mother, Sierra Privette, has been charged with negligent child abuse, while her boyfriend, Micha Wynn, faces charges of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury. The authorities are continuing their investigations into this heartbreaking case.
