An elderly man, John Kort, 85, was taken into custody by the Santa Ana Police Department following the tragic discovery of his wife, Nancy Kort, 70, who was found shot to death in their home in Orange County.
The incident took place on June 23 at approximately 11:53 p.m. when authorities responded to reports of a shooting on the 2300 block of North Towner Street in Santa Ana.
Upon arrival, officers found Nancy Kort with multiple gunshot wounds to her upper torso. Despite efforts to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives investigating the case suspect that the fatal shooting was a result of a domestic violence altercation between the elderly couple.
John Kort was immediately arrested at the scene on charges of murder. The circumstances leading up to the tragic death of Nancy Kort are currently under investigation by law enforcement.
