ENTIAT – Law enforcement in Chelan County was summoned to a residence on US Hwy 97A in Entiat on Tuesday in response to reports of a disturbance involving a potentially armed individual. The incident unfolded around 11:03 AM and revolved around a 32-year-old man, identified as Dalton Olson from Wenatchee, who was reportedly going through a mental health crisis at his mother’s home.
Upon reaching the scene, deputies found Olson had armed himself with a high-powered rifle, raising concerns for public safety. Fortunately, Olson’s mother was able to exit the premises unharmed before the arrival of law enforcement officers.
It later emerged that Olson was legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to a court order stemming from a previous incident. Despite efforts by deputies to communicate with Olson on-site, he remained unresponsive, prompting the activation of the East Cascade SWAT Team (ECST) to manage the situation.
After obtaining a search warrant, the ECST employed specialised tactics, including the use of loud flash bangs, and successfully apprehended Olson without any further incidents. He now faces charges related to unlawful possession of firearms. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
