SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has identified a body that washed up on a beach south of Half Moon Bay earlier this month as that of a missing North Beach resident. The discovery was made on Tuesday, June 11 at around 4:41 p.m. after the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office alerted the coroner about the body.

The body, believed to have washed ashore, was found by a passerby on a beach south of Half Moon Bay. The coroner’s office immediately responded and initiated an investigation into the cause and manner of death.

After thorough examination and fingerprint analysis, the coroner’s office confirmed on Tuesday that the body belonged to 39-year-old Kelvin Sol Yee.

Yee, a resident of San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, had been missing for over two weeks. He was last seen in Chinatown on May 28, and it is believed that he was heading towards an address near Half Moon Bay State Beach at the time of his disappearance.

San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin expressed his sadness on Twitter, stating, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that North Beach community member, Kelvin Yee, was found deceased in Half Moon Bay a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to those who have been keeping up hope that he would resurface for a coffee at Trieste.”

“My condolences to his family,” added Peskin, who is also a mayoral candidate.
