MILFORD, Del. – A routine traffic stop on Friday night led to the arrest of a Dover man on multiple drug charges in Milford, Delaware.

The Milford Police Department initiated the traffic stop in the area of Airport Road and N. DuPont Boulevard just before 9 p.m. The stop was made due to a registration violation, and officers made contact with the driver, identified as 44-year-old Jorge Ortiz, and the passenger, identified as 35-year-old Edwin Rodriguez.

During the course of the stop, it was discovered that Rodriguez had active court capiases for his arrest. A consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 637 dosages of suspected heroin, totaling approximately 4.459 grams, along with drug paraphernalia.

Ortiz was subsequently taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity and manufacture/deliver/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity. He was held on a $15,000 secured bail.

Rodriguez, on the other hand, was presented on his active capiases and released with new court dates. Additionally, he received a criminal summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.
