Margot Lewis : “Dead Woman Found in Tarp After Crash”

Olmstead County deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash near Rochester and made a shocking discovery. 32-year-old Margot Lewis from North Liberty, Iowa was found sitting on the side of Highway 90, while a dead woman was found inside her car.

Charges filed against Margot Lewis

Margot Lewis has been charged with a felony count of interference with a dead body or death scene in connection with the incident that occurred on June 22 near the town of Eyota. Prosecutors in Olmstead County have taken legal action against Lewis following the disturbing discovery.

Details of the incident

When Olmstead County Deputies arrived at the scene of the crash, they found Margot Lewis sitting in a folding chair near the center median. Witnesses informed the deputies that Lewis was the driver of the crashed Chevy Sonic and that another individual had provided her with the chair to sit on.

Upon further investigation, witnesses expressed their concerns that there might be a deceased person inside the vehicle. One of the deputies approached the car and made a grim discovery. The body of a woman, later identified as 35-year-old Liara Tsai from Minneapolis, was found wrapped in various materials inside the vehicle. The body was cold to the touch, indicating that the death was not a result of the crash.

Medical examination reveals shocking details

Upon removing Liara Tsai’s body from the vehicle, the Olmstead County Medical Examiner’s Office made a disturbing revelation. They found a large wound on the right side of the victim’s neck, near the carotid artery. This discovery raised further questions about the circumstances surrounding Tsai’s death.

Investigation ongoing

Following the incident, Margot Lewis was evaluated at Mayo Clinic Hospital before being taken into custody at the Olmsted County Detention Center. However, Lewis remained unresponsive and did not provide any answers to jail staff or investigators regarding the events that transpired.

The relationship between Margot Lewis and the victim, Liara Tsai, remains unclear. Authorities are working diligently to determine the extent of Lewis’s involvement in Tsai’s death and the events leading up to the tragic discovery.
