Garden City Police Department (GCPD) announced the arrest of Edward Quintana on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in an armed carjacking incident. The arrest was made on charges of robbery, grand theft, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Incident Details
On the morning of June 25, Garden City police received a report of an armed carjacking near the 6800 block of Strawberry Glenn Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered Quintana attempting to assault a woman with a deadly weapon.
Quintana brandished a handgun and demanded the woman’s vehicle before fleeing the scene by driving west through the parking lot. The victim promptly reported the incident to authorities, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.
Police Response
Following the carjacking, Garden City police were able to identify the stolen vehicle using its license plate number. Ada County Dispatch disseminated this information to all law enforcement agencies in the county to aid in locating the suspect.
A deputy in Eagle successfully spotted the stolen vehicle traveling down Old State Street. A brief pursuit ensued, culminating in the deputy executing a P.I.T. maneuver to disable the car and apprehend Quintana without further incident.
Arrest and Charges
Edward Quintana was taken into custody and now faces charges of robbery, grand theft, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The Garden City Police Department expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of Ada County Dispatch, which played a crucial role in the swift resolution of the case.
