The South Lebanon Township Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that took place in April. The incident resulted in the death of a 77-year-old pedestrian, Casimira Pakola.

On the morning of Tuesday, April 30, police responded to a call on Eastfield Drive reporting a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered that Pakola had tragically passed away as a result of the collision. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene at a high speed.

After a thorough investigation, the authorities identified the driver as 19-year-old Zachary Steven Werner. He was arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with several serious offenses, including homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving, duty to give information and render aid, and careless driving.

The investigation into the incident was conducted by the South Lebanon Township Police, the local Accident Reconstruction Team, the Lebanon County Detective Bureau, and the Office of the District Attorney. The collaborative effort of these agencies led to the arrest of Werner.

This arrest brings some closure to the family and friends of Casimira Pakola, who tragically lost her life in this hit-and-run incident. The authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case and that the responsible party is held accountable for their actions.
