Javontee Brice : Manatee Sheriff: Man Killed 3 Women, Shot Dead in Standoff

BRADENTON, Fla. — A tragic shooting incident in Manatee County has left three women dead, including the gunman’s mother. The series of events unfolded at different locations within the county, with law enforcement officials working diligently to piece together the details of the case.

First Shooting at Motel 6 in Bradenton

The first shooting took place around 9:15 p.m. at the Motel 6 on 67th Street Circle East in Bradenton. Deputies responded to a call at the motel and discovered the lifeless body of a 48-year-old woman who had been fatally shot. Witnesses at the scene informed authorities that 28-year-old Javontee Brice had arrived at the motel and shot his mother for reasons that remain unknown. Brice then fled the scene, possibly heading towards Georgia.

Second Shooting in Palmetto

Less than half an hour later, at approximately 9:40 p.m., authorities were alerted to another shooting incident on 26th Street Court East near 9th Avenue Drive East in Palmetto. A 29-year-old woman sitting inside a parked SUV had been shot. Despite efforts by Palmetto police officers to save her life, the woman succumbed to her injuries about an hour later. Witnesses identified Brice as the perpetrator of this heinous act.

Third Shooting in Bradenton

Shortly after 10 p.m., a third shooting was reported on 55th Street West near 8th Avenue Drive West in Bradenton. Bradenton police responded to the scene and discovered that Brice had also shot another woman before fleeing the area. The victim was rushed to the hospital but tragically passed away. A statewide alert was issued for Brice’s vehicle, leading law enforcement agencies to track him to Hamilton County, close to the Florida/Georgia state line.

Gunman Killed in Confrontation with Deputies

By 1:30 a.m. the following day, Brice was involved in a shootout with Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies, resulting in his death. Detectives believe that Brice was en route to Georgia with the intention of targeting a fourth individual.
