A 35-year-old woman from Mooresville, Deannea Rochell Savoy, has been handed a prison sentence of 70 to 93 months after pleading guilty in a drug trafficking case at the recent session of Iredell County Superior Court. This equates to five years and ten months to seven years and nine months behind bars.

The charges against Savoy stem from her arrest in December 2021, following a lengthy investigation by Iredell County Narcotics Investigators into the distribution of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy. During the four-month probe, Savoy was identified as the main distributor of the illegal substance. Undercover officers managed to purchase over 1,800 dosage units of ecstasy from her in several meetings.

Authorities arrested Savoy at her residence in Mooresville, where she was charged with five felony counts each of trafficking MDMA through possession, sale, and transportation. At the most recent session of Superior Court, she admitted guilt to five felony counts of trafficking a schedule II controlled substance. She is currently serving her sentence at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women.
