HONOLULU Man Faces Charges After Alleged Stabbing Incident at Shopping Center

A man in Honolulu made his initial court appearance on Monday following his arrest on suspicion of terroristic threatening at a local shopping center and for allegedly stabbing a Walmart employee on June 15.

The incident unfolded when a security guard on duty at a shopping center on Ala Moana Boulevard noticed the man, later identified as Kealoha Tapu, sleeping against the building. The guard approached Tapu and requested him to move, informing him that he would be banned from the property for a year. It was at this point that Tapu reportedly brandished a knife and threatened the guard with it.

According to police reports, Tapu then aggressively charged at the guard while shouting profanities. Later in the day, Tapu allegedly stabbed a Walmart employee at a nearby bus stop on Ke’eaumoku Street. The 32-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Charged with Terroristic Threatening and Attempted Murder

Following the incidents, Tapu has been officially charged with terroristic threatening and attempted murder. He is currently being held in custody on a bail amount of $500,000.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incidents, and Tapu is scheduled to appear in court for further proceedings. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.
