CLARK COUNTY — A routine traffic stop on I-65 on Sunday resulted in the arrest of two women from Clark County on serious drug charges. The incident took place around 7 p.m. when Trooper Clay Boley from the Indiana State Police Post Sellersburg’s All Crimes Policing Team pulled over a green Ford Ranger for failing to signal lane changes.

Upon stopping the vehicle at the 3.2 Mile Marker on I-65 South in Clark County, the driver was identified as 63-year-old Sharon L. Mclain from Jeffersonville, while the passenger was identified as 48-year-old Tara G. Edwards from Clarksville.

During the traffic stop, Trooper Boley noticed suspicious behaviour from the occupants, prompting the arrival of Trooper Charles Herron and his canine, Atlas, for assistance. The canine alerted on the vehicle, indicating the possible presence of drugs.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 32 grams of suspected methamphetamine and over 100 various controlled prescription pills. Both women were then arrested without any resistance and taken to the Clark County jail.

Charges and Arrests

Sharon L. Mclain faces the following charges:

  • Dealing in Methamphetamine over 28 grams – Level 2 felony
  • Possession of Methamphetamine over 28 grams – Level 3 felony
  • Unlawful Possession of a Legend Drug – Level 6 felony

Tara G. Edwards has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 6 felony

Both women are currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings. The swift action by the Indiana State Police highlights their commitment to combating drug-related crimes in the region.
