Accident – Death – Obituary News :

TORONTO — In a tragic incident that shook the city, a 14-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that resulted in the deaths of two men and injuries to three others at a high school parking lot in early June, as confirmed by the authorities on Monday.

Det. Sgt. Phillip Campbell revealed that the teenager is facing two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder in relation to the shooting incident.

Speaking at a press conference, Campbell expressed his sorrow over the senseless violence that claimed the lives of two innocent individuals, leaving their families devastated by the irreplaceable loss.

“This was a mass shooting that took place in our city, and the repercussions are truly heartbreaking,” Campbell stated.

The tragic event unfolded outside North Albion Collegiate Institute on the evening of June 2, where a group of nine men had congregated in the parking lot following a soccer game. It was during this gathering that a dark pickup truck arrived at the scene, from which two suspects emerged and opened fire on the men before making a swift getaway in the same vehicle.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement officers, five individuals were found to have sustained gunshot wounds, while four others escaped unharmed. Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital, with another losing his life a few days later. The deceased have been identified as 61-year-old Delroy “George” Parkes and 46-year-old Seymour Gibbs.

The teenage suspect had initially been apprehended in connection with an alleged stolen vehicle, and the motive behind the shooting remains a mystery, as per Campbell.

Authorities are actively searching for the second suspect, as well as any other individuals involved in the incident, although no descriptions have been released thus far.

Superintendent Ron Taverner emphasised the ongoing efforts to gather more information about the stolen vehicle and the firearm used in the shooting, expressing disbelief at the alleged involvement of a 14-year-old in such a heinous crime.

Of the three wounded victims, one is grappling with injuries that are described as “life-altering,” while the families of all the victims are said to be grappling with overwhelming devastation.

“The pain and anguish experienced by the families affected by this tragedy is unimaginable,” Campbell acknowledged.

Authorities are urging anyone in possession of information that could aid in further arrests related to the shooting to step forward and assist in the investigation.
