An incident at a Walmart in Eunice, Louisiana has shocked the community after a 38-year-old woman, identified as Brionka Benjamin from Opelousas, was arrested for throwing her 6-month-old infant in a trash can during a fight. The altercation, which involved several women, took place on June 22 at around 3:32 p.m. and resulted in the arrest of Benjamin and her niece, Makatelynn Benjamin.
According to the Eunice Police Department, the fight had already ended by the time officers arrived at the scene. However, upon reviewing video surveillance footage, it was discovered that Brionka Benjamin was seen holding her baby before allegedly tossing the infant into a nearby trash can. The incident occurred near the entrance/exit of the Walmart during a verbal altercation.
Fortunately, the 6-month-old baby was not injured in the incident and was later released to other family members by the EPD. Brionka Benjamin now faces charges of simple battery and cruelty to juveniles for her actions. Makatelynn Benjamin, her niece, was also arrested and charged with simple battery due to her alleged involvement in the fight.
