Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Essex County District Attorney’s Office has officially named 80-year-old Nancy Holbrook as the victim of a tragic four-alarm fire that engulfed a Georgetown residence on Saturday evening.

Nancy Holbrook, who was the mother of Scott Holbrook, was residing at 238 East Main St. with her son and his wife, Susan. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the grieving family during this difficult time. The exact details of who else resided in the home with the Holbrooks remain unclear.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene of the single-family home around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday night. While three occupants managed to escape unharmed, Nancy Holbrook was tragically unable to evacuate the premises. Firefighters bravely carried her out of the burning house and into an awaiting ambulance, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The fire proved to be a challenging battle for firefighters, with a total of 14 fire departments coming together to bring the blaze under control. Unfortunately, the home was deemed a complete loss. However, the American Red Cross has stepped in to assist the displaced Holbrook family in finding temporary accommodation.

The Georgetown Fire Department, in conjunction with the state fire marshal’s office, is currently conducting an in-depth investigation into the cause of the fire. While initial reports suggest that the incident is not deemed suspicious, further details surrounding the origin of the blaze have yet to be disclosed.

As the community mourns the loss of Nancy Holbrook, authorities are committed to unraveling the events that led to this devastating fire. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Holbrook family during this challenging time..
