Accident – Death – Obituary News :
On Saturday, June 22nd, just before 1 in the morning, emergency services responded to a tragic single vehicle crash on I81 in the Town of Homer. The incident involved a 2020 BMW driven by 53-year-old Dale J. Planck of Cortland.
New York State Police Public Information Officer, Sergeant Jack Keller, provided details of the crash. Planck was travelling southbound on I81 when he sideswiped a guide rail on the western shoulder of the highway. Subsequently, he crossed both the driving and passing lanes of I81 South before veering off the shoulder of I81 Northbound and coming to a stop along a tree line.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found Planck unresponsive inside the vehicle. He was quickly transported by TLC Ambulance to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Tragically, despite efforts to save him, Planck succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Cause of Death Investigation
Sergeant Jack Keller mentioned that a formal investigation into the cause of Dale J. Planck’s death is currently underway. State Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The circumstances surrounding the single vehicle crash on I81 in the Town of Homer remain under scrutiny as authorities seek to establish a clearer picture of the events leading up to the tragic incident.
