The unfortunate incident unfolded in the serene village of New Amguri, situated within the jurisdiction of the Balajan police station in the Kokrajhar district of Assam.
In a distressing turn of events, a 28-year-old man met his untimely demise at the hands of his acquaintance over a financial disagreement in Kokrajhar, Assam, on Sunday night.
The tragic occurrence transpired in New Amguri village, falling under the jurisdiction of Balajan police station in Kokrajhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Derhasat Basumatary (20), while the alleged perpetrator has been named as Boga Basumatary.
Reports suggest that Derhasat and Boga found themselves embroiled in a monetary dispute, which escalated to the point where Boga reportedly inflicted a fatal wound to Derhasat’s throat with a sharp weapon, resulting in his immediate demise.
Responding promptly to the situation, Kokrajhar police apprehended the accused individual.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to Kokrajhar Sadar police station for post-mortem analysis, as authorities delve deeper into the investigation.
