When a woman in Houston found herself in a perilous situation, a family of skilled Taekwondo practitioners came to her rescue, demonstrating bravery and quick action in the face of danger.

The An family, who run a Taekwondo studio in the city, were beginning their evening classes when they heard the desperate cries for help echoing through the streets.

Initially dismissing the sounds as mere playfulness, the family’s attention was soon captured by a particularly intense scream that signaled a more serious situation unfolding nearby, as reported by NBC News.

Without hesitation, Simon An, his father, brother, and sister sprang into action, rushing towards the source of the distress.

Upon arriving at a local phone store, they were met with a distressing sight – a man attempting to assault a young woman. The family wasted no time in intervening, with the father, a Taekwondo grandmaster, swiftly subduing the attacker.

Simon and his brother joined forces with their father, while his sister provided support to the traumatized woman, guiding her to safety, according to The Independent.

The swift and decisive actions of the An family were later commended by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, who credited their martial arts skills with preventing a potential sexual assault.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez expressed his gratitude in a social media post, thanking the Yong-In dojo for their courage and quick response in protecting the community.

Reports from ABC13 confirm that the suspect, a 19-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with attempted sexual assault.

Reflecting on the incident, the An family shared that despite years of training in martial arts, they had never before been required to apply their skills outside of the studio.

This heroic act serves as a testament to the importance of being prepared and willing to act in the face of danger, showcasing the true essence of bravery and selflessness.
