Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage, a three-year-old Palestinian toddler was viciously attacked by an American woman at an apartment complex swimming pool last month. The horrifying assault took place in the presence of the child’s mother and sibling.

The perpetrator, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, was reportedly intoxicated and attempted to drown the child while engaging in a heated argument with the mother. Wolf even went as far as ripping off the mother’s headscarf during the altercation.

Witnesses at the scene described Wolf’s behaviour as racially motivated, with the attacker accusing the mother of not being “really American.” Wolf has since been charged with attempted murder and was able to post bail of $40,000 to be released from jail while awaiting trial.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas) condemned the attack in a statement released last Friday. According to CAIR, the mother, identified as Mrs. H, was wearing a hijab and modest swimwear when Wolf entered the pool area and initiated the assault.

CAIR’s press release detailed the harrowing incident, stating that Wolf targeted the children, dragging them to the deep end of the pool in an attempt to drown them. The toddler’s six-year-old brother was also attacked but managed to escape the assailant.

Fortunately, a bystander intervened to help the toddler, who was coughing up water and calling for assistance. The mother was also subjected to physical violence, with Wolf using the headscarf to beat her and forcibly submerge her daughter’s head underwater.

Following her arrest, Wolf allegedly threatened to harm the mother and her entire family, further adding to the trauma experienced by the victims. Mrs. H expressed her fear and distress, stating that she no longer feels safe in her own country as a result of the attack.

CAIR is calling for a thorough investigation into the incident as a hate crime and is urging law enforcement to take measures to ensure the safety of the Muslim family and community. Shaimaa Zayan, CAIR’s Austin, Texas operations manager, highlighted the alarming rise in Islamophobia and anti-Arab sentiment.

State Representative Salman Bhojani from Euless condemned the attack, emphasizing that hate has no place in their community. The incident comes amidst a backdrop of escalating tensions in the region, with a surge in anti-Muslim and anti-Arab incidents reported across the US.

CAIR has documented a significant increase in complaints of bias and discrimination, signalling the urgent need for action to address the ongoing wave of hate crimes targeting marginalized communities. The organisation is calling for a hate-crime probe and heightened vigilance to combat bigotry and prejudice.

As the investigation unfolds, the community stands united in denouncing such heinous acts of violence and discrimination. It is imperative that justice is served, and measures are implemented to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
