Elizabeth Wolf, 42, has been charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child after allegedly trying to drown a 3-year-old Muslim girl at an apartment complex pool in Euless, Texas.
Mustafaa Carroll, the executive director of CAIR’s Texas chapter, stated that the attack took place after Wolf made racist comments to the girl’s mother, who was wearing a hijab. “CAIR-Texas calls upon state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate an allegedly biased murder attempt targeting Muslim children in Euless, Texas, as a hate crime,” Carroll emphasized during a recent news conference.
In addition to the hate crime inquiry, CAIR-Texas is requesting a higher bail bond for Wolf and seeks to engage in open discussions with officials to address the escalating Islamophobia, anti-Arab, and anti-Palestinian sentiments in the community.
Following initial reports of the incident, Wolf was initially arrested for public intoxication but was later charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges on May 23, leading to further legal proceedings in the case.

The mother of the children involved, referred to as Mrs. H, recounted a harrowing experience at the pool where Wolf allegedly attempted to drown her daughter. During a news conference, Carroll shared a statement from the mother, highlighting the emotional toll the incident has taken on her family. The mother expressed fear and uncertainty, stating, “My daughter is traumatized; whenever I open the apartment door, she runs away and hides, telling me she is afraid the lady will come and immerse her head in the water again.”
The mother further revealed that her husband’s employment has been jeopardized due to the need to accompany her and their children to various appointments and errands following the traumatic event. In recent years, there has been a concerning rise in hate crimes targeting Muslims and Palestinians in the United States. CAIR’s 2023 report documented a record number of complaints, with a significant portion attributed to heightened Islamophobia following violence in Israel and Palestine. Carroll emphasized the human tragedies behind these statistics, noting that children are often the primary victims of such hate crimes. He cited previous incidents, including the tragic stabbing of a 6-year-old Muslim boy in Chicago and a middle school teacher’s threat to behead a 13-year-old Muslim student in Georgia, underscoring the pervasive nature of Islamophobia in society.
