Governor JB Pritzker has taken action against the Crystal Lake city clerk following disturbing allegations. Nicholas S. Kachiroubas, 45, of Crystal Lake, has been arrested on charges related to child pornography and online child enticement.

Sex Crimes Investigation Unveils Disturbing Findings

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into Kachiroubas in April after receiving a tip from another agency. The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children provided crucial information to the sheriff’s office, leading to the discovery of online enticement of children for sexual acts.

Kachiroubas was found to be in possession of child sexual abuse material and engaging in grooming activities, which involve using electronic devices to lure children into committing sexual offenses.

Arrest and Charges

Following the investigation, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Kachiroubas’ residence on South Dole Avenue in Crystal Lake. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony, and grooming, a Class 4 felony.

During court proceedings, prosecutors revealed disturbing details about Kachiroubas’ interactions with children, including explicit conversations and requests for nude photographs.

Professional Positions Under Scrutiny

Kachiroubas, who serves as the city clerk for Crystal Lake and an associate teaching professor at DePaul University in Chicago, has faced immediate repercussions. Governor Pritzker has removed him from his position on the Illinois Community College Board.

Despite efforts to detain Kachiroubas pending trial, a judge ruled for his release, citing adherence to the Illinois SAFE-T Act. The decision has sparked debate over public safety and the handling of detainable-eligible offenses.

As the case unfolds, the community remains on edge, grappling with the unsettling allegations against a prominent figure.
