A man has been taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office following an alleged burglary at Rocket City Toys in late May. The incident, which occurred in the Hampton Cove community, was reported to authorities by several businesses in the area.
Surveillance footage captured images and videos of the suspect, which were shared on social media to aid in the investigation. Detectives conducted a thorough review of the footage, which led to the identification of the suspect and his vehicle.
After tracking the suspect’s movements over several days, detectives located his vehicle at a Circle K in Hampton Cove. The suspect, identified as 65-year-old Michael Thomas, has since been charged with two counts of Burglary and Violation of Probation.
In addition to the burglary charges, Thomas was found in possession of burglary tools. Authorities anticipate filing further criminal charges against him as the investigation progresses. Thomas is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on a bond of $20,500.
