EULESS, Texas — Woman Charged with Attempted Capital Murder and Injury to a Child in Texas

A woman in Texas has been arrested and charged with attempted capital murder and injury to a child after an incident at an apartment complex pool in Euless. The woman, identified as Elizabeth Wolf, 42, allegedly attempted to drown a 3-year-old child and made racially motivated statements during the altercation, according to Euless Police Department.

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has identified the family involved as Muslim and Palestinian. The organization has called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident as a hate crime and ensure the safety of the Muslim family and community.

The incident took place on May 19 when police responded to a disturbance at the apartment complex pool. Witnesses reported that a heavily intoxicated woman, later identified as Elizabeth Wolf, had tried to drown a child and engaged in a confrontation with the child’s mother.

Wolf was apprehended by police as she attempted to leave the scene and was arrested for public intoxication. The victim’s mother stated that Wolf had questioned her nationality and made racist remarks before attempting to harm her children.

The mother of the children managed to rescue her daughter from the water, but the child was left traumatized by the incident. Both children were examined by Euless Medics and cleared of any physical harm.

Elizabeth Wolf was released on bail from Tarrant County Jail after posting a bond. The charges against her include attempted capital murder with a bond of $25,000, and injury to a child with a bond of $15,000, as confirmed by Captain Brenda Alvarado of Euless Police Department.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations has called for a hate crime investigation and increased awareness of Islamophobia and racial discrimination. Texas Rep. Salman Bhojani expressed shock and condemnation of the incident, emphasizing that hate has no place in Euless or the state of Texas.
