WOODHULL, N.Y. (WETM) — An Allegany County man is facing a murder charge after police say he fatally shot a man in Woodhull on Saturday morning.
Bradly J. Maddalena, a 24-year-old resident of Wellsville, was taken into custody following an investigation into a reported fatal shooting incident. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Maddalena at approximately 8:44 a.m. on June 22, where he confessed to shooting and killing a man during an altercation on County Route 101 in Woodhull.
The victim of this tragic incident has been identified as 57-year-old Wayne E. Mosher, a resident of County Route 101.
Upon receiving the 911 call, deputies promptly responded to the scene and initiated a thorough investigation. The Steuben County Evidence Collection Team dedicated 20 hours to processing multiple crime scenes, while investigators obtained and executed numerous search warrants. Additionally, over a dozen interviews were conducted, enabling the investigators to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Mosher’s untimely demise. Based on the gathered evidence, it was determined that Maddalena had deliberately caused Mosher’s death through the use of a firearm.
As a result of these findings, Maddalena was formally charged with second-degree murder, classified as a class A felony under New York State law.
Following the reading of his charges at the Centralized Arraignment Court, Maddalena was remanded to the Steuben County Jail, where he is being held without the option of bail.
Assistance in the investigation that led to Maddalena’s apprehension was provided by the Woodhull Volunteer Fire Department, the Steuben Emergency Management Office, and the New York State Police Department.
