Tragically, a fourth victim succumbed to their injuries following the shooting incident that took place outside a grocery store in Arkansas, as confirmed by the local authorities on Saturday night.

Arkansas State Police have disclosed that a total of 14 individuals were wounded in the shooting that unfolded outside the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas. Among the wounded were 11 civilians, two law enforcement officers, and the alleged perpetrator, Travis Eugene Posey, according to a press release issued by the police department.

The distressing incident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

The deceased victims, all of whom were civilians, have been identified as Shirley Taylor, 62, Callie Weems, 23, Roy Sturgis, 50, and Ellen Shrum, 81.

Authorities have confirmed that seven civilians, comprising of five women and two men, survived the harrowing ordeal. Four of the survivors remain in hospital, with one woman in critical condition. Fortunately, three of the injured civilians were discharged from medical care on Friday.

Police officer James Johnson, aged 31, was released from hospital on Saturday evening after sustaining a gunshot wound. In contrast, Stuttgart Police officer John Hudson, aged 24, sustained minor injuries.

Travis Posey is set to face four counts of capital murder in connection with the tragic incident, with additional charges pending as per law enforcement officials.

After engaging in a gunfight with authorities, Posey received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries before being handed over to state police custody and subsequently transported to the Ouachita County Detention Center.

The investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.
