Accident – Death – Obituary News : A single-vehicle crash in Marion County led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man on charges related to drugs and firearms possession. Lance Dell, a resident of Peel, found himself facing serious allegations following the incident earlier this month. Among the charges brought against Dell is the offense of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, which is classified as a Class Y felony in Arkansas, representing one of the most severe categories of crime in the state.
The events unfolded on June 2 when state troopers responded to the accident scene located north of Summit. Upon arrival, they discovered Dell lying on the ground, using his soft cooler as a makeshift pillow, with his overturned vehicle resting in a nearby ditch. The situation took a turn for the worse when the tow truck arrived to remove the vehicle from the scene. Dell reportedly insisted that the operator take the vehicle to his father’s residence, disregarding the instructions of the authorities present.
Despite repeated warnings to allow the operator to carry out his duties without interference, Dell persisted in bothering the tow truck operator. As the vehicle was being prepared for transport, Dell attempted to start the engine, despite the significant damage sustained in the crash. The engine malfunctioned, causing the motor fan to shatter into multiple pieces, endangering both the tow truck operator and the attending troopers. Dell was once again urged to step back and cease his disruptive behavior.
Subsequent to a search of Dell’s cooler, he denied the presence of alcohol but consented to a thorough inspection of its contents. The search revealed a loaded needle containing methamphetamine, a 9mm firearm with 16 rounds of ammunition, and a marijuana pipe. Dell was promptly taken into custody on charges including possession of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, obstructing governmental operations, disorderly conduct, and careless and prohibited driving.
Following his arrest, Dell was released from the Marion County Law Enforcement Center after posting a bond of $20,000. The case against him is ongoing, with the severity of the charges reflecting the potential consequences he may face.
