Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident occurred in Pathsala, Assam, where a 26-year-old man lost his life while attempting to save a friend from drowning in the Palla River in lower Assam’s Baska district.
The brave young man, identified as Manzil Khan, son of Jamaluddin from Moirajhar village under Govardhana police station area of Salbari sub-division, was part of a group of seven friends who went for a swim in the river on a fateful Saturday evening. When one of his friends began to struggle in the water, Manzil selflessly jumped in to rescue them, despite not being a strong swimmer himself. Tragically, Manzil went missing in the river during the rescue attempt.
Local police and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) personnel swiftly responded to the scene to search for Manzil. However, due to the darkness of the night, the rescue operation had to be suspended on Saturday. The search resumed the following morning, and the SDRF team was able to recover Manzil’s lifeless body from the river.
The news of Manzil’s untimely death has left his family members devastated and in mourning. The heroic sacrifice made by Manzil in an attempt to save a friend serves as a poignant reminder of the dangers of water-related activities, especially for those who are not experienced swimmers.
