Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday evening in Barnala’s Ram Rajya Colony, where a prominent Akali leader, Kulvir Singh Mann, shocked the community by taking the lives of his 85-year-old mother, 21-year-old daughter, and their beloved pet dog before turning the gun on himself. The gruesome discovery was made around 7:15 pm when Kulvir’s wife, Ramandeep Kaur Mann, returned home from the market to find the main gate locked from the inside. Distraught and unable to gain entry, she sought assistance from neighbors, who were horrified to find the lifeless bodies of Kulvir, his mother Balwant Kaur, and daughter Nimrat Kaur, along with their pet Pug, in a pool of blood.

Barnala’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Malik, revealed that the tragic incident took place around 6:30 pm on Saturday, with Ramandeep returning home just 45 minutes later to the devastating scene. According to Ramandeep’s statement to the authorities, Kulvir had been battling depression for over a decade and had previously undergone surgery. It was further disclosed by the police that Kulvir utilized his licensed revolver to carry out the heinous act. CCTV footage retrieved from within the house depicted the chilling sequence of events, showing Kulvir first targeting his daughter, followed by his elderly mother and their pet dog, before taking his own life.

SSP Malik also shared that Nimrat had been pursuing her studies in Canada on a student visa and was in India on a break at the time of the incident. With the loss of three generations in one tragic event, Ramandeep now finds herself as the sole surviving member of the family.

As the police investigation unfolds, reports suggest that forensic experts and Barnala police have invoked Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, which is applicable in cases of suicide, murder, accidental death, or death under suspicious circumstances. Postmortem examinations are scheduled to take place before the bodies are released to the family members on Sunday afternoon.

Kulvir Singh Mann, who had been intermittently involved in Akali Dal activities, often seen alongside SAD leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and other party members, has left a void in the community. The police are diligently working to uncover more details surrounding this tragic event that has shaken Barnala to its core..
