In a turn of events, Avantika, a bright student from Ernakulam, had her bicycle stolen not once, but twice. However, thanks to the prompt action of the Palarivattom Police, the stolen bicycle was recovered within a day and the thief was apprehended.

Avantika’s Ordeal

Avantika, who achieved A Plus grades in all subjects in her SSLC exams at Ernakulam Government Girls Higher Secondary School, first had her bicycle stolen from her residence in May. Desperate to recover her stolen possession, she reached out to Education Minister V Sivankutty, who graciously gifted her a new bicycle a day before she started her Plus One studies at Elamakara Government Higher Secondary School on June 2.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans as her newly gifted bicycle was stolen on a Friday morning. Undeterred, Avantika filed a complaint at the Palarivattom Police Station once again.

The Police Investigation

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, it was discovered that a man with a disability and wearing a cap had stolen two bicycles, including Avantika’s, at around 4:30 am on Friday. The police were able to pinpoint the location and identified the thief as Shaji, a 56-year-old resident of Aarattukadavu in Alappuzha.

Shaji had abandoned his own bicycle at the scene of the crime. With the help of vigilant local residents, the police were able to apprehend Shaji when he returned to retrieve his own bicycle.

Recovery of Stolen Bicycle

Following Shaji’s arrest, he provided crucial information to the police leading to the recovery of Avantika’s stolen bicycle from a resident of Ponnurunni to whom he had sold it for a mere sum of Rs 1500.

Thanks to the swift action of the Palarivattom Police, Avantika was reunited with her stolen bicycle, and justice was served as the thief was taken into custody.
