The deceased victims have been identified as Shirley Taylor, 62, Callie Weems, 23, Roy Sturgis, 50, and Ellen Shrum, 81. The wounded individuals, aged between 20 and 65, are currently receiving medical treatment, with four still hospitalized, including one in critical condition.

Suspect Identified and Charged

The suspect, identified as Travis Eugene Posey, 44, of New Edinburg, has been taken into custody and will be charged with four counts of capital murder. Following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement, Posey was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being transferred to the Ouachita County Detention Center.

Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting and a media briefing is scheduled for Sunday to provide further updates on the investigation.

The shooting took place at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, a small city located south of Little Rock. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as panicked bystanders sought cover and fled the area.

Roderick Rogers, a member of the city council, recalled the moment when he was alerted to the shooting by employees at his nearby restaurant. He witnessed people scrambling for safety, with some even running to the nearby hospital for refuge.
