Community Reacts to Tragic Incident

The shooting took place on Friday morning at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, a small city located 65 miles south of Little Rock. Roderick Rogers, a member of the city council, described the chaotic scene as people scrambled for safety upon hearing gunshots.

Video footage shared on social media captured the harrowing moments of the shooting, with images showing bullet holes in the store’s windows and shell casings scattered in the parking lot. Local and state authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with medical personnel attending to the injured.

Recent Trend of Grocery Store Shootings

This tragic incident in Arkansas is the latest in a series of mass shootings that have taken place in grocery stores across the United States. In 2022, a white supremacist targeted a supermarket in Buffalo, resulting in the deaths of 10 Black individuals. This comes after a similar shooting in Boulder, Colorado, where 10 people were fatally shot at a supermarket.

Authorities are scheduled to provide an update on the investigation into the Arkansas grocery store shooting during a media briefing on Sunday afternoon. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
