Martell Pogue : “Juveniles Charged in Freeport Shooting, Suspect Search On”

FREEPORT — The Freeport police department is actively pursuing one individual following the arrest of two suspects in connection with a shots fired incident on Friday.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday, Freeport officers received information regarding two individuals allegedly involved in a shots fired incident on W. Douglas Street earlier that day.

Authorities identified the suspects as Martell Pogue, 25, and Delovia Ford, 36, who were allegedly present during or connected to the reported shots fired incident.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of S. High Avenue where Pogue and Ford were located. However, Pogue fled the scene in a vehicle when officers attempted to apprehend him.

During the investigation, Ford was taken into custody and a firearm, along with 300 grams of suspected cannabis, was seized from the residence. Ford now faces charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

Later in the day, following a report of a fight in the 200 block of West Pleasant, officers discovered that the victim in this incident was the same individual involved in the earlier shots fired call on W. Douglas Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned that a 16-year-old male had confronted the victim and threatened them with a firearm. The juvenile was apprehended as he attempted to flee and now faces charges of possession of a handgun by a person under 18, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon (UUW), and aggravated assault with a firearm.
