Accident – Death – Obituary News :

On Friday, a driver who was stopped for speeding on I-65 in southern Indiana took off and led officers on a chase through Clark, Scott, and Jackson Counties, resulting in the arrest of three men.

Details of the Chase

The incident began around 5:30 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a 2019 Chevy Silverado for speeding. The vehicle was clocked at 87 mph in a 70-mph zone on I-65 South near the 14-mile marker. The driver, identified as 35-year-old Thomas Vinson, initially pulled over but then sped off as the trooper approached the truck.

The chase ensued as the Chevy exited the interstate at the Sellersburg exit and re-entered on the northbound side, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. Despite attempts by law enforcement to stop the vehicle using tire deflation devices, the driver managed to evade capture on several occasions.

During the pursuit, Vinson and the front seat passenger were seen throwing an unknown substance out of the windows. Additionally, it was discovered that the dealer plates on the vehicle were stolen.

The chase continued through Scott and Jackson Counties on I-65, with the driver even crossing the median and driving northbound at one point. The pursuit finally came to an end when Vinson exited the interstate and collided with a car entering the southbound on-ramp. Fortunately, the car only sustained minor damage, and no injuries were reported.

Arrest and Charges

Vinson, along with 29-year-old Cedrick Gleaves and 23-year-old Carl Fulmore, were eventually apprehended near the 82-mile marker. They were taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the Silverado had been reported stolen from Westfield, Indiana, in May. Vinson, who had multiple warrants out of Marion County, is facing charges including resisting arrest, vehicle theft, criminal recklessness, and possession of marijuana. Gleaves and Fulmore are both charged with marijuana possession.

All three individuals have been booked at the Clark County Jail awaiting arraignment.
