CHICAGO – Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the tragic shooting of a teenager on the West Side of Chicago towards the end of last year.
Nineteen-year-old Tayjon Lane and twenty-year-old Jaylyn Griffith are facing charges as outlined by the Chicago police force:
- One charge of first-degree murder
- One charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder
Both Lane and Griffith were apprehended on June 20. Lane was arrested in the 700 block of N. Waller Avenue while Griffith was taken into custody in the 5000 block of W. Maypole.
The suspects were identified in connection with a fatal shooting incident that took place on Nov. 10, 2023, in the 5000 block of W. Madison.

The alleged crime involved the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in a hallway.
The victim, identified as Keshaun Rhodes, sustained gunshot wounds to the back of the head and abdomen, according to the Chicago Police Department. Rhodes was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Lane and Griffith are scheduled to appear in court on June 23 for a detention hearing.
