A tragic incident unfolded in North East Delhi’s Shastri Park area as a couple from Assam, 27-year-old Bhaskar Deka and 25-year-old Jumi Das, were found dead under mysterious circumstances, the police reported on Saturday.
The police received a distressing call on Saturday morning regarding a woman hanging with a string near the 1st Pushta, New Usmanpur. A team immediately rushed to the spot to investigate the situation.
Upon arrival, the police discovered the woman’s cell phone near her lifeless body and a call from her friend on the phone revealed that the woman had expressed her intentions to commit suicide the previous night.
Further investigation led the police to the couple’s residence in Usman Pur, where Bhaskar Deka’s body was discovered. Bhaskar had allegedly committed suicide by hanging with a nylon rope from the ceiling fan in their rented house.
The couple had been residing in the rented house for the past two months, according to the police. The reason behind their tragic decision to end their lives remains unclear at this point.
However, a suicide note left by Bhaskar in Assamese shed some light on the situation. In the note, Bhaskar expressed deep remorse for bringing his wife to Delhi from Assam, stating that it had been a wrong decision and apologising for everything.
The deceased woman, Jumi Das, was originally from Assam and was employed in the housekeeping unit of Omaxe Mall in Chandni Chowk. Her husband, Bhaskar, worked as a security guard at the same location.
A senior police officer confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The bodies of the deceased couple have been taken to GTB Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and the authorities are working diligently to uncover the reasons behind this heartbreaking turn of events.
