Minneapolis authorities announced on Friday that they will be conducting an investigation into a tragic incident involving a motorcyclist who collided with a Minnesota State Patrol vehicle, resulting in the motorcyclist’s untimely death.
Details of the Crash
According to Police Chief Brian O’Hara, the fatal crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on June 14. State Patrol troopers were engaged in a pursuit of a motorcycle, with the pursuit ultimately coming to an end when the motorcyclist, a man in his mid-20s, exited the highway. The troopers decided to terminate the pursuit at that point.
Despite the pursuit being called off, a State Patrol helicopter continued to monitor the motorcyclist’s movements. Tragically, the motorcyclist collided with a marked State Patrol vehicle on Cedar Avenue, near 51st Street in south Minneapolis.
Outcome of the Crash
Following the collision, the injured motorcyclist was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. However, the severity of his injuries proved fatal, and he succumbed to his wounds on Friday. The identity of the deceased individual will be disclosed by the Hennepin County medical examiner’s office, along with details surrounding his passing, as stated by Chief O’Hara.
