The family of Jason John Brown is one step closer to finding closure as Wellington County OPP have announced the charging of a third suspect in connection with the kidnapping and homicide of the 43-year-old Kitchener man.

In a tragic incident that took place in March 2019, Brown was abducted from Harriston Cemetery in Harriston. His lifeless body was discovered the following day by Durham Region Police, located north of Whitby on Stevenson Road.

Following an extensive investigation, two suspects were charged in November 2023. The individuals, a 32-year-old man from Edmonton and a 33-year-old from Brantford, were linked to the heinous crime.

Now, Wellington County OPP have identified and charged a 30-year-old man from north Wellington, Travis Willard Wand, with several serious offences including First Degree Murder, Assault with a Weapon (two counts), Kidnapping, Theft Over $5,000 – Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, and Obstruct Justice (two counts).

The accused is set to appear in a Guelph courtroom on September 21, where he will face the charges brought against him.
