Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A certified nursing assistant at an assisted living facility in Hot Springs has been arrested on a felony charge after being accused of causing injury to a patient by pushing her down in March.

Deadra Nacole Tubbs, a 33-year-old resident of Hot Springs, was taken into custody on Tuesday on a warrant for abuse of adults, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. She was booked into the Garland County jail and later released on a $3,500 bond. Tubbs is scheduled to appear in Garland County District Court on July 5.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident took place on March 8 at Brookfield Assisted Living, located at 205 Sawtooth Oak St. Hot Springs police were called to the facility after staff reported an altercation involving Tubbs and a 69-year-old female resident.

Staff members informed the authorities that on the previous day, March 7, the resident had been throwing water at employees. Tubbs allegedly pushed the woman, causing her to fall and sustain a head injury that required medical attention at a local hospital.

Initially, Tubbs claimed that the incident was an accident, attributing the fall to the presence of water on the floor. However, security camera footage and witness statements from multiple employees contradicted her account, describing the incident as a deliberate push that resulted in the patient’s injury.

Brookfield Assisted Living specialises in senior care, including treatment for dementia and other mental health conditions. The victim had been a resident at the facility since December 2023, while Tubbs had been employed as a certified nursing assistant since August 2022.

This case highlights the importance of proper care and respect for vulnerable individuals in assisted living facilities, as well as the legal consequences of mistreatment or abuse towards patients.
