Mumbai: Two officers, one suspect, and a thrilling pursuit at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport captured the attention of onlookers, the police revealed on Thursday. Authorities attempted to apprehend the suspect to prevent his escape, but he managed to flee in a vehicle, eluding the Goa Police, as detailed in a police report lodged at the Sahar Police Station in Mumbai.

The suspect in question is a 32-year-old individual named Imad Wasim Khan, who had been apprehended in Uttar Pradesh and was being transported to Goa. It was at the Mumbai Airport approximately at 6 am on Wednesday when the suspect absconded from police custody, an official recounted.

Khan is facing charges in a case in Mapusa, Goa, including wrongful confinement, inflicting harm voluntarily, and impersonating a public official. Acting on intelligence, the Goa police recently journeyed to Khan’s hometown in Saharanpur, UP, and took him into custody with the aid of local law enforcement.

Officers’ Attempt to Apprehend the Suspect

The two officers flew to Mumbai and arrived at Terminal 2. While one officer was seeking information from airport personnel about Terminal 1, where they needed to catch a flight to Goa, Khan managed to break free from the grip of the other officer.

The officer pursued Khan, who sprinted out of the airport and hopped into a waiting vehicle, according to the police report. Despite attempts to extract Khan from the vehicle, he successfully evaded capture and made his getaway.

The two Goa officers lodged a report against Khan after failing to locate him. A case has been officially registered against Khan, and ongoing efforts are being made to track down his whereabouts.
