In a tragic incident in Narsampet town, Warangal, a 23-year-old man lost his life while attempting to create a viral reel for social media platforms. The young man, identified as K Ajay, staged a fake hanging for the reel, which unfortunately resulted in his accidental strangulation and subsequent death.
According to sources, Ajay was known for frequently creating and sharing reels on social media in a bid to gain popularity and virality. On the night of the incident, he had left his sister’s house and returned to his own residence. In an ill-fated decision, Ajay set up his phone on the refrigerator in the kitchen to capture a video of himself staging the hanging, leading to the tragic outcome.
Upon returning home, Ajay’s mother, Devamma, found the door locked and received no response from her son. Concerned, she sought help from neighbours who eventually broke open the door, only to discover Ajay hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen.
Narsampet Inspector D Ramana Murthy confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 174 CrPC for suspicious death. The body of the deceased has been moved to the Narsampet Government Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with attempting risky stunts or pranks for the sake of social media content. It is essential for individuals to exercise caution and prioritise their safety above all else, especially when engaging in activities that could potentially endanger their lives.
