The Storm Lake Police Department in the United Kingdom released information on two cases this week. On June 17th, at approximately 9:00 pm, an officer from the Storm Lake Police Department conducted a routine traffic stop for a minor violation in the 900 block of East Milwaukee Ave.

Details of the Incident

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 44-year-old Jermaine Whiteside, a resident of Storm Lake. During the traffic stop, the officer detected a strong odour of narcotics emanating from the vehicle. Upon conducting a thorough search, the officer discovered marijuana wax cartridges, marijuana, ecstasy pills, and a loaded firearm.

Charges and Arrest

Whiteside was promptly taken into custody and charged with two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony. Additionally, he faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver (a Class D felony), possession of a scheduled I controlled substance (a serious misdemeanor), being a person ineligible to carry a dangerous weapon (a serious misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (a simple misdemeanor).

Legal Proceedings

Whiteside was transported to the Buena Vista County jail, where he was booked and held on a bond of $17,300.

Second Incident

The following day, on June 18th, at around 5:20 PM, the Storm Lake Police Department received a report of shoplifting at Walmart. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers apprehended two suspects who allegedly failed to pay for merchandise valued at approximately $1700.

Suspects and Charges

The suspects were identified as 42-year-old Salene Escobedo and 33-year-old Darene Luna, both residents of Sac City. Escobedo and Luna were charged with theft 2nd degree, a class D felony. Further investigations revealed that Darene Luna had an active probation warrant from the state of California.

Legal Actions

Both Luna and Escobedo were taken to the Buena Vista County jail. Escobedo was held on a bond of $5000, while Luna was detained awaiting extradition back to the state of California.
