Jasper County Deputies Respond to Gunshot Wound Incident
On the 19th of June, 2024, Jasper County Deputies and detectives were called to Sunrise Lane near Webb City following a report of a male with a gunshot wound.
The injured male has been identified as Denis Sanchez-Cortez, a 33-year-old resident of Joplin. He was swiftly taken to a local hospital for treatment of a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound and later transferred to a hospital in Springfield for further care.
The shooter involved in the incident has been identified and is fully cooperating with law enforcement. Initial findings suggest that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
