An 80-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday evening after allegedly shooting and killing another 80-year-old man at a residence in Thousand Oaks. The incident occurred on the 2400 block of Avenida De Las Plantas, prompting a response from deputies of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies Respond to a Welfare Check
Deputies were called to the scene around 10:05 p.m. after receiving a request to perform a welfare check at the residence. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of an 80-year-old man who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. The victim’s roommate, identified as 80-year-old Edward Fegley, was arrested at the scene.
Physical Altercation Leads to Fatal Shooting
Investigators believe that a physical altercation occurred between the two elderly men, resulting in Fegley shooting and killing the victim. Fegley was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Ventura County Main Jail in Ventura, where he is currently being held on $790,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 24 to face charges for murder.
