LEXINGTON — The Lexington Police Department has officially identified the 39-year-old man whose lifeless body was discovered in an alleyway on Thursday, June 13.
Chief Paul Schwarz confirmed that the deceased individual is Genaro Martinez-Martinez, a United States citizen who had been living without a permanent residence in the Lexington area for approximately one to two months.
Despite collaborating with Homeland Security investigators, the LPD has encountered challenges in locating Martinez-Martinez’s next of kin.
Upon receiving a report at 6:15 p.m., officers promptly responded to the scene where an adult male was found lying motionless next to a building in the 100 block of W. 6th St.
Emergency personnel from the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department also attended, and following an assessment, it was tragically determined that the man had passed away.
Evidence gathered at the site, in conjunction with preliminary findings from the autopsy, strongly indicate a head injury sustained from a fall backwards. Chief Schwarz has ruled out any suspicion of foul play in this case.
