Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a tragic incident that shook the community, a Valley Center man has pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a Wichita woman. The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed the plea.

The victim, 48-year-old Kristine Sheffield of Wichita, tragically lost her life due to injuries sustained in the crash that took place on February 20, 2023. The incident occurred at the intersection of 11th and Broadway in Wichita, where Sheffield was struck by a dirt bike while crossing the street. The rider of the dirt bike, identified as 21-year-old Chase Faimon at the time, fled the scene following the collision, according to Wichita police.

Initially facing a serious charge of “first-degree murder or in the alternative, second-degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident,” Faimon’s legal troubles continued to escalate. While he was out on bond, Faimon found himself in trouble with the law once again. In May of last year, he was arrested for “felony racing on highways racing and sideshow” as part of a Stunt Rider Project investigation conducted by law enforcement.

The sentencing for Faimon in the fatal hit-and-run case has been scheduled for August 9. This development marks a significant step in the legal proceedings surrounding this tragic incident that resulted in the loss of a beloved member of the community.
