Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Members of the An family, who own a dojo in Katy, Texas, showcased their exceptional skills in taekwondo by coming to the rescue of a woman who was being sexually assaulted, according to local authorities.

The An family has been deeply rooted in the business of teaching taekwondo for numerous years, never truly realizing the significant impact their training would have on a real-life situation.

It was around 4 p.m. on a Tuesday when the family was returning from lunch when they heard distressing screams emanating from a nearby Cricket Wireless store.

Simon An, 20 years old, recounted the moment they heard the cries for help, stating, “The second scream, yeah, we knew it was like a cry for help.”

Upon entering the store, 22-year-old Hannah An described witnessing a horrific scene unfold before them. “I saw a man on top of a woman, and the woman was on the ground,” she said.

With swift action, their father, grandmaster Han An, took control of the situation by apprehending the suspect and subduing him effectively.

Even after securing the suspect, Han An continued to maintain control over the situation, ensuring the safety of all involved.

Joining their father in the heroic act were Simon An and his younger brother, 18-year-old Christian An, who provided assistance while Hannah An and her mother, Hong An, attended to the victim by taking her to the family’s dojo.

Reflecting on the incident, Hannah An expressed the importance of providing support to the victim in the aftermath of such a traumatic experience. “Making sure that she’s OK because she needed that after that experience, after that situation that happened out of nowhere,” she said.

When law enforcement arrived at the scene, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Alex Robinson, was still under the control of the An family, pinned to the floor of the store.

Despite sustaining minor injuries during the ordeal, Han An remained composed and unfazed, expressing pride in his family’s actions. “Yeah, of course, I’m very proud of my family,” he remarked.

The An family expressed their gratitude for being in the right place at the right time to intervene and prevent further harm.

When hailed as heroes for their courageous act, Hannah An humbly stated, “I thank everybody who’s calling us that, but still, I think anybody can do it.”
