HOUSTON – A devastating incident unfolded on Tuesday night in Houston, resulting in the untimely death of a 3-year-old girl in a single-vehicle crash, according to authorities.
The tragic event took place in the 8500 block of Cowart Street just after 8:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through the local community.
Reports from officials indicate that the driver of a white Kia Soul was travelling southbound on the 1400 block of Silverdale Street when the vehicle veered off course, failing to maintain a single lane. The car ultimately collided with a wooden utility pole on the northbound side of the sidewalk at Cowart Street, causing it to roll over and come to rest on its passenger side.
Tragically, during the impact, the 3-year-old girl, identified as Reginae Richardson, was ejected from the front passenger window, sustaining fatal injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and despite their best efforts, Reginae succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The driver and another 8-year-old girl managed to escape through the driver’s side window and were also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no signs of intoxication in the driver, but it was noted that there were no child seats present in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
