Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 19-year-old student at the University of Southern California (USC) has been taken into custody on suspicion of fatally stabbing a homeless man in Los Angeles. Ivan Gallegos reportedly encountered Xavier Cerf attempting to break into cars on the college’s Greek Row, leading to a confrontation that turned violent.
According to reports from FOX 11, the incident occurred on Monday evening, with Gallegos and two other students getting into a physical altercation with Cerf. The altercation ended tragically with Cerf being fatally stabbed. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene at around 8:15 p.m. in Los Angeles’ University Park neighborhood.
Cerf was discovered in the walkway between two fraternity houses and was pronounced dead at the scene. Gallegos and the two other students involved remained at the scene, with Gallegos being placed under arrest. His bail has been set at $2 million.
During questioning, Gallegos claimed that Cerf was armed with a gun, but no weapon was found at the scene, as reported by the New York Post. The two other individuals were also questioned by the Los Angeles Police Department and subsequently released.
A profile of Ivan Gallegos published by Annenberg Media revealed that he is a first-generation Latino student attending the Marshall School of Business at USC. Described as an East Los Angeles native, Gallegos is known as “IDG” in the music industry, being a singer, songwriter, producer, and composer. He has a single titled “LA ZONA” and has performed with Mariachi Los Troyanos at USC.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Gallegos is studying Business Administration and Management and is actively involved with the university’s Latino Business Student Association. He also works at Chick-fil-A and is a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
Growing up in an environment affected by gang activity and incarceration, Gallegos founded a non-profit organization called “Project Dream,” which aims to support underserved communities impacted by issues such as gang violence, substance abuse, and poverty.
