Accident – Death – Obituary News : Law enforcement officials in Morrilton, Arkansas, have confirmed the capture of a 50-year-old man connected to multiple murders in Oklahoma and Alabama. Stacy Lee Drake, the suspect in question, was wanted in connection with the deaths of three individuals in Oklahoma and one in Alabama. After a multi-day manhunt, Drake was apprehended in Morrilton, Arkansas.

The Oklahoma murders took place near State Highway 64 and South 4760 Road in Gans. Sequoyah County deputies responded to a report of two deceased individuals at a local business. Upon arrival, they discovered a man and a woman who had sustained fatal injuries consistent with homicide. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation identified Stacy Lee Drake as a person of interest in the case.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane disclosed to KOCO 5’s sister station 40/29 that Drake had abandoned a truck in Sallisaw, which was later linked to the crime scene in Gans. Information regarding a third murder in Oklahoma has not been released, but Arkansas State Police indicated that the homicides were related to carjackings.

Among the victims in Oklahoma was Tara Barnett Underwood, a mother of three who was engaged to a man with three children of his own. Described as a funny and bubbly individual, Underwood’s sister expressed a desire for her to be remembered in a positive light.

In addition to the Oklahoma murders, Drake is also a suspect in the killing of a 62-year-old man at an Alcoholics Anonymous building in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on May 14. The victim, identified as Russell Thomas Andrews, was allegedly targeted by Drake.

The capture of Stacy Lee Drake in Morrilton, Arkansas, came almost two days after the double homicide in Gans. Arkansas State Police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation had been tracking Drake’s movements, eventually locating him in Morrilton after the discovery of a vehicle linked to him at a local motel. Following the purchase of camping gear, authorities were able to apprehend Drake, though specific details of his capture have not been disclosed.

Morrilton, situated approximately 50 miles northwest of Little Rock in Conway County, has a population of nearly 7,000 residents according to the 2020 U.S. census. The town served as the backdrop for the conclusion of the manhunt for Stacy Lee Drake, bringing closure to a series of tragic events spanning across multiple states..
